WWE Smackdown Live Open Discussion Thread 12/13/16

Tonight, on the With Spandex WWE Smackdown Live open discussion thread for December 13, 2016:

WWE Week rolls through SmackDown LIVE with a high-stakes Battle Royal to determine The Wyatt’s No. 1 contenders. Plus, James Ellsworth looks to unseat “The Champ that Runs the Camp.” But will Dean Ambrose have something about it? — via WWE.com

Our five-point preview:

1. The WWE Championship Match between AJ Styles and James Ellsworth will FINALLY take place tonight, after being delayed due to Styles’ ankle injury. Can the ultimate underdog shock the world and win the company’s top prize? Well, no. But it should still be a fun match, because Styles could get a great match out of a poop-covered broomstick shard at this point.

2. There will be a Tag Team Battle Royal to determine new No. 1 contenders to the tag team titles. That should be really awesome, and maybe this will be American Alpha’s first chance to get a big title match against the new and improved Wyatt Family. Or the Hype Bros. Or whoever! It won’t be the Vaudevillains, though. You can go ahead and cross them off the list.

3. The tepid intrigue in the triangle feud between Nikki Bella, Natalya, and Carmella is heating up! Will there be more glares and heavy breathing this week? Will words actually be exchanged? STAY TUNED.

4. A new contender for Miz’s Intercontinental Championship may be revealed shortly. I’m hoping it will be Dean Ambrose, so Miz can continue to give him increasingly more elaborate participation accolades.

5. Gabriel Iglesias will be this week’s special guest star, and in a big step up from last week’s special guest, he’s probably someone you’ve actually heard from before. I think Rhyno is the “fluffiest” guy that Smackdown has right now, so he’ll probably run into Iglesias and they’ll yuk it up backstage. If Iglesias does a tiny baby voice, you win BINGO.

Also happening tonight is the hot new show dedicated entirely to cruiserweights, 205 Live:

Before he battles TJ Perkins and The Brian Kendrick at Roadblock: End of the Line in a Triple Threat Match for the Cruiserweight Championship, “The Outlandish” Rich Swann has to go one-on-one against Perkins on WWE 205 Live. – Via WWE.com
