Here are your quick and dirty, editorial-free WWE Smackdown Live results for November 15, 2016. The go-home show before the Survivor Series featured the return of the Undertaker, a title change, and an appearance by Edge.
Be back here tomorrow for the full Best and Worst of Smackdown column.
WWE Smackdown Live Results:
— The show opened with Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan welcoming everyone to this special episode of Smackdown. They hyped the return of the Undertaker and introduced the first match of the night: the Intercontinental title match between Dolph Ziggler and the Miz.
1. Intercontinental Championship Match: The Miz defeated Dolph Ziggler (c). Ziggler rolled up Miz in a small package, but Maryse pushed them over behind the referee’s back to reverse the pin and allow The Miz to get the three-count and become a six-time Intercontinental Champion. He will defend the title against Sami Zayn at Survivor Series.
— Backstage, Alexa Bliss pleaded her case to Daniel Bryan that her foot was on the ropes when she lost to Becky Lynch last week. Bryan promised she would get a rematch, but for now, she has to focus on Survivor Series. Team coach Natalya interrupted and tried to give Bliss a pep talk.
2. Kalisto defeated Oney Lorcan. This was the main roster debut for Oney Lorcan, who was identified with NXT graphics, so there hasn’t been a full-time call-up. Kalisto won by pinfall after the Salida Del Sol.
3. Carmella NC Nikki Bella. Charlotte Flair came in through the crowd with a front row ticket to watch the match. Nikki attacked Charlotte and threw her into the ring and the referee threw the match out.
— After the match, the Raw women’s Survivor Series team stormed the ring to beat down Nikki. Carmella reluctantly came to Nikki’s aid, then the Smackdown women’s team ran in to even the odds. The 12 women (Dana Brooke and Natalya were also present) brawled all around ringside and Smackdown got the better of the exchange, standing in the ring and taunting the Raw team.
4. American Alpha, The Usos, The Hype Bros, and Breezango defeated The Spirit Squad, The Headbangers, The Ascension and The Vaudevillains. Rhyno and Heath Slater were at ringside, cheering on the team of Survivor Series-bound wrestlers. American Alpha got the pin for their team with the Grand Amplitude on Thrasher.
— Edge returned with his Cutting Edge segment, and his guests were the members of the Smackdown men’s Survivor Series team. The team members began bickering among themselves until they were interrupted by the Undertaker’s music. Undertaker said he is back, and told team Smackdown to win on Sunday, or they will have a reason to fear The Dead Man.
The fact that there are still no real stakes in these SuSe matches means that the match I actually care the most about is Lesnar vs Goldberg. Great job, WWE?
I’ve gotta think Jimmy E. is having the time of his wrestling life these days.
The go-home match had Ambrose, Kane and American Alpha beat AJ and the Wyatts and ended with Ellsworth tearing off his shirt and flexing in the middle of the ring. He’s living the dream.
I see what you did there….
Pre-show results….”Ricky Martinez” came out and cut cheap heat promo saying he always dreamed of debuting in a WWE ring but it embarrasses him that his debut is in a hick town like Wilkes-Barre…then James Ellsworth’s music hit, crowd popped huge for him. It rivaled the pop Edge got. Martinez dominated the match, grabbed a mic and said “You clap for him? I’m gonna end him” and Ellsworth nailed no-chin music when he turned around. Crowd loves Ellsworth.
remember the whole Submission Sorority ordeal?
well, I just googled Ricky Martinez and a porn star came up. sure hope they change his name before his official debut then
Hahaha. I’m sure they will. The guy has a good look and delivered a solid, if cheap promo, I’m guessing he was a cruiserweight tryout or some guy already on the NXT roster that I just don’t know, cause he was way too polished for local talent.
That women’s beatdown was a fun brawl that made absolutely no sense, whether it be Bayley participating in a heel beatdown, Sasha helping out Charlotte after telling her nobody would follow her orders yesterday or a complete failure to follow up the apparent story of Smackdown being overlooked while Raw settles for one feud and HIAC-like moments, all because of BRAND PRIDE that didn’t exist yesterday, and indeed didn’t really exist in the show given the only hint of a team unity line was from Becky on Talking Smack.
Also, I know I’ve said this before but Oney Lorcan is being given the full Solomon Crowe, isn’t he?
Bayley: NO! This is wrong! I’m not going out there to beat them up! It’s not nice!
Alica: Bayley, we don’t have a choice, let’s just GO! It’ll be over quick!
Bayley: NO! I REFUSE!
Sasha: Hold on, I got this ::puts her arm around Bayley:: Now Bayley-Wayley, you know I’m your bestie ::coughpossiblelovinterestcough:: and that I care about how you feel. But sometimes, you just gotta look in the mirror and see what you have to do ::pulls out pocket mirror::
Bayley:: ::looks into pocket mirror for a few seconds:: LET’S KICK THEIR ASSES! ::rushes out::
Nia: What?
Sasha: Made a small mirror from the Oculus at Full Sail. Just for emergencies.
THAT’S ALL YOU HAD TO DO!
+1 continuity
