Lauren Faust is the mind behind “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” and, of course, “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic”. Yes, she helped create, accidentally, the brony subculture.
But that’s because she refuses to churn out cutesy crap. Faust is actually a bit underappreciated, even now, simply because she’s largely worked in children’s animation, which is a medium that gets zero respect. She’s got a sharp wit, and we’d be curious to see how she’d handle, say, an Adult Swim series.
Until then, though, we’ll have to “settle” for shorts she’s been doing for the DC Nation block on Cartoon Network.
Like this one, the first in a series, where Batgirl and Supergirl try to convince Donna Troy to “borrow” the Invisible Jet…and packs a huge amount of characterization in 76 seconds.
Why isn’t this an animated series yet?
