And now, the best and worst of 205 Live for October 17th, 2017.

Best: Come As You Are

Heel Enzo is fantastic. Now that he’s not just a catchphrase machine and has an actual, realized story to tell, he’s been on fire. I like that it’s now official the reason that he has his crew of NEFARIOUS CRUISERWEIGHTS is because he’s getting them paid. And money can make anyone forget how Enzo shit all over you a few weeks ago. After he’s heard enough, Kalisto makes his way to the ring, and thankfully doesn’t talk while doing it. Talking would have been a bad choice.

Best: Gentleman Jack

First of all, big ups to Gentleman Jack Gallagher for wrestling in oxfords. I’ve never seen a wrestler improve themselves so much with a wardrobe change, but “upscale street clothes” Jack Gallagher is light years ahead of “doughy mustachioed baby” Jack Gallagher.

He has a great match with Rich Swann, who is fresh from last week’s fantastic 2-out-of-3 falls match against TJP, where Swann took two straight falls to win. If they give the upcoming tag match some time at TLC and not just one of those 8-minute jobs, this could be fantastic.

Worst: No Chants In Hell

Ugh. Drew Gulak considers himself to be our father, and halfway through this presentation I was hoping he’d go out for smokes and never come back.

They couldn’t have picked a better person for the “wrestling should be boring and terrible” gimmick. In that regard, Gulak is really knocking it out of the park. I did like him saying that rules are meant to be followed, despite what our “Beastie Boys and Fresh Prince records” would tell us. Between Enzo dropping some Nirvana references at the top, everyone was really hitting things at the height of their popularity. This all leads to the announcement that there will be a Power Point presentation on the TLC kickoff show, so, you know, if you were on the fence about watching TLC, there you go.

Best: The Tag Match

First, a quick Worst for Kalisto on the mic. Even on a pretape this guy is the pits. “I’m going to beat you, and then I’m going to beat. You. UP.” How many takes do you think he blew before they said, yeah, this will do.

The actual match was good, though. I’m all about the Mustafa Ali hype train. This match did its best to hide the fact that Enzo still really can’t go in the ring. I don’t know if Kalisto has enough Good Lucha Things to pull a good match out of Enzo at TLC, or if they’ll have to include more Daivari And Assorted Goons interference. After the match Kalisto shows his aggressive side, following through on his threat to beat. him. UP.

There you have it, short and sweet. We’ll see you next week. Until then, let people know that the cruiserweights also have a show and that we’re writing about it here at With Spandex.
