Tonight The Viper squares off with The Essence of Excellence on SmackDown Live in a clash of former World Champions. Plus, following the chaos last week on SmackDown Live, will the scourge of Bray Wyatt continue to influence the growing conflict between WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose and his SummerSlam No. 1 contender Dolph Ziggler.
Our five-point preview:
1. Daniel Bryan was on Monday night’s Raw to get gently condescended to by Mick Foley. Will Foley return the favor tonight? Almost certainly!
2. Randy Orton continues his whirlwind SummerSlam tune-up world tour by going up against dead-behind-the-eyes Alberto Del Rio, who is probably crossing off days on his calendar with big red Xs leading up to the date he can opt out of his contract. Will he openly weep during the match? Probably!
3. Bray Wyatt might still be in the mix for a title shot, or might be next man up. Or he might just continue being ineffective after losing to Dolph Ziggler’s in-canon stupidest WWE move ever last week.
4. Heath Slater has a chance to earn a Smackdown contract if he manages to defeat Rhyno tonight. So expect him to get Gored and pinned after he falls into a vat of dog poop on his way to the ring.
5. The tag team division is reportedly about to heat up en route to establishing new Smackdown-exclusive tag titles. Will the women’s division similarly heat up? Nah, probably not. But as long as Eva Marie voiceover shows up again, everything will be fine.
