WWE Week on USA Network kicks off in exciting fashion, as Raw Tag Team Champions The New Day defend their titles against the teams of Cesaro & Sheamus and Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson. If Kofi Kingston, Big E & Xavier Woods can outlast this challenge, they’ll essentially become the longest reigning tag team champions in WWE history! Will a merry milestone highlight The New Day’s holiday season? (via WWE.com)
Our five-point preview:
1. It’s the go-home show for ROADBLOCK: NEVER STOP NEVER STOPPING, so we’re likely to get all of our matches finalized. (Except for the three matches they add on Sunday afternoon so they can get 12 cruiserweights on the Kickoff Show, because Drew Gulak’s jacket and Noam Dar’s jacket are in a blood feud.)
2. The Raw Tag Team Championship will be on the line in a Triple Threat Match, as Sheamus and Cesaro and The Club will both compete to see who gets to be the last team to not take The New Day’s titles before they break Demolition’s longevity record. Tune in next week, when The New Day is named Tag Team Champions Emeritus, and hold the titles in perpetuity. A second set of titles will be created, called the Raw Tag Team Championship Junior. You know; for kids!
3. Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho may or may not still be best friends after the events of last week. This slow drifting apart has paralleled your parents’ divorce in a lot of ways, including being sad, prolonged, tragic, unnecessary, and your dad’s propensity for always wearing a shirt under any circumstances.
4. It’s WWE Week on the USA Network, so you may be heading about the troops and/or tributes a lot. Which means the Big Show and Mark Henry might be on Raw for two entire weeks in a row! A new 2016 record!
5. Enzo Amore was beaten within an inch of his life last week after being lured into a honeypot ambush, which is the only way Rusev can get it up. Big Cass will likely be out for blood this week, so hopefully he doesn’t also fall victim to one of Rusev and Lana’s surprise fetishes. That would be awful. [rubs hands, licks lips]
