Like many people, John Kasich is sick and tired of hearing about a rigged election. The Ohio governor told CBS News that this assertion is as “silly” as thinking the moon landing was fake. Kasich has been vocal in his opposition of Donald Trump, refusing to sell his soul for future political promotions like others have done. And his recent criticism of the rigged election conspiracy spouted by Trump is just another track on his greatest hits album. While Kasich said those who believe the election is rigged may be the equivalent of tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorist, he said the rhetoric stemming from this assertion can be more dangerous:
“Look, to say that elections are rigged and all these votes are stolen — that’s like saying we never landed on the moon, frankly. That’s how silly it is … I don’t think that’s good for our country, for our democracy, and I don’t believe that we have any massive fraud. That’s just a silly argument. The problem is it does create doubt in people’s minds, and I worry about 25 percent of Americans who may say when an election is over, it was stolen. That is a big, fat joke.”
Kasich has been a straight shooter this election season while refusing to put up with Trump’s controversial rhetoric. The rigged election conspiracy only feeds into guys like Alex Jones’ wild accusations, which only leads to more publicity about his outrageous theories.
