As you may have heard, an internal miscommunication led to a headline that misrepresented a quote from Kristen Stewart from a Variety interview at Sundance.
Here is a portion of Stewart”s quote, which the site originally framed as pertaining to diversity in Hollywood:
“If you're bored or if you feel like there's a lack of something in front of you, it's silly for me to say 'Go do something'…instead of sitting around and complaining about that, 'Do something.' Go write something, go do something for yourself.”
In reality, the actress has been asked about the role of women in the industry.
In the video above, the Girls on Film, Alicia Malone, Roth Cornet, and Miri Jedeikin discuss the headline that raised so many hackles, and look at the delicate balance between staying in business and maintaining your integrity.
We also examine the shift response to what Stewart said, once the context was revealed.
