J.J Abrams’ upcoming “Super 8” features a large cast led by a group of kids, including Elle Fanning (“Somewhere”) and lesser-known actors Gabriel Basso, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee and, in the lead role, Joel Courtney. They’re joined by adults like Kyle Chandler (“Friday Night Lights”) and Ron Eldard.
The film centers around a group of kids in a small town in 1979, who witness a horrific train crash while making an 8mm short film. The crash unleashed something mysterious into the town, and the kids’ footage may hold some answers.
Steven Spielberg produced “Super 8,” which harkens back to his late ’70s-early ’80s output of films like “Jaws,” “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and “E.T.” Abrams previously directed the 2009 “Star Trek” reboot and co-created “Lost” and “Fringe.”
In the video, the kids talk about the film’s effects and easter eggs, and the lost art of keeping secrets.
