WWE is seemingly sparing no expense to make Raw’s 25th anniversary special on January 22 a night wrestling fans won’t soon forget. The confirmed list of returning WWE Superstars is kind of unreal.
We already knew that Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler were booked for Raw 25, but we didn’t know how WWE planned to use the most iconic announcing team in WWE history. Until now.

Mike Rome announced via WWE’s Twitter account on Monday that Ross and Lawler are, indeed, calling the action inside the Manhattan Center on January 22. Raw 25 is going to feature some sort of bizarre simulcast where the show will take place at both the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and the Manhattan Center at the same time. Having Ross and Lawler work the Manhattan Center portion of the event makes all the sense in the world, and now it’s official.

The very first episode of WWF Monday Night Raw was broadcast live from the Manhattan Center on January 11, 1993, and WWE used the Manhattan Center for 28 episodes of Raw throughout the 1990s. WWE obviously outgrew the Manhattan Center, as they haven’t been back there in more than 20 years which makes the broadcast from the Grand Ballroom on January 22 all the more special.
Pro Wrestling Insider has been reporting that WWE is building an old-school set for the Grand Ballroom at the Manhattan Center for Raw 25, and having that old aesthetic with Ross and Lawler on commentary has all the makings for a fun, nostalgia-filled night of wrestling.
