Here’s How WWE Stars Did At The 2018 People’s Choice Awards

Several WWE superstars got that coveted mainstream coverage (non-political category) for the wrestling promotion by being nominated for People’s Choice Awards this year, but did any of these sports entertainers go home from the ceremony able to call themselves a People’s [Choice Awards] Champion? It turns out the PCAs have a People’s Champion Award and that went to Equal Justice Initiative founder Bryan Stevenson, so no. But let’s look at how John Cena, Nikki Bella, and Nia Jax fared in the eyes of the online voting public!

John Cena

Cena was up for Comedy Movie Star of 2018 for Blockers but lost to Melissa McCarthy in Life of the Party. His movie Blockers was nominated for Comedy Movie of 2018, but The Spy Who Dumped Me went over. If you were keeping up with the awards show in real time, you could tell that the Doctor of Thuganomics (no longer accepting new patients) was not going to win because he could not be seen at the ceremony or on the red carpet, sadly depriving us all of a new signature, colorful Cena suit.

Nikki Bella

The more jacked Bella Twin was also nominated for two PCAs: Competition Contestant of 2018 for her time on Dancing With The Stars and Reality TV Star of 2018 for the latest season of Total Bellas. She lost the first to Maddie Pope of American Idol, a show I completely forgot had been rebooted, and the second to Khloe Kardashian of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. *Bella voice* Come onnnn, Nikki! *end Bella voice* That’s not even the main Kardashian! However, if both sets of reality TV/lifestyle brand mogul sisters are going face off in the squared circle, Khloe is one hundred percent the one I’d most want to see throw down.

The Bellas did show up to the ceremony though and looked great and more identical than usual on the red carpet.

Nia Jax

Nia Jax was up for the Game Changer of 2018 award for her work promoting body positivity. This category also included Colin Kaepernick, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Aly Raisman, and was won by Serena Williams, so it’s not surprising voters resisted the Irresistible Force here. Jax also showed up to rock the red carpet.

She tweeted that “Although I did not win the award of #GameChanger Tonight, I feel like a total winner for all the love and support I received from the #WWEUniverse, my family and friends!,” and got a sweet, supportive replies from her aunt (and the Rock’s mom) Ata Johnson, as well as from Mickie James.

So no one from WWE actually won a People’s Choice Award at the People’s Choice Awards, but both Brie Bella and backstage interviewer and Talking Snack host Cathy Kelley made E’s Best Dressed List. That counts for something!
