Sometimes getting worked isn’t so bad, when the truth is better than the story you were told. At least that’s what I’m telling myself, a mere three days after breathlessly reporting on Dave Meltzer saying that we’d never see Luke Harper in WWE again, that Vince McMahon was refusing to use him, that Harper was being paid to sit at home until his contract is up next April. It turns out that’s not true, and surely wasn’t even true on Thursday. But the honest truth is, I’d rather be wrong and get to see Luke Harper wrestle, than be right about him being kept from doing the thing he loves by WWE’s pettiness.
The No Disqualification Match between Roman Reigns and Erick Rowan had already been quite a fight, when Roman came barreling down the ramp and directly into the boot of a previously unseen competitor. As Reigns’ attacked turned, he was revealed Luke Harper, Rowan’s former tag team partner in both the Wyatt Family and the Bludgeon Brothers. Back in the ring, Harper hit Reigns with a discus clothesline to help finish the match.
Since both Harper and Rowan have first names again, and the announcers didn’t call them the Bludgeon Brothers, it seems unlikely that they’re headed right back into that gimmick, but it will be interesting to see where they go instead. In any case, have Luke back is pretty exciting.
