After the jump, I’ve got the trailer for David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook, based on the novel by Matthew Quick, starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence as former mental patients falling in love. Or as I like to call it, “Wow, Crazy People Are Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking.” If crazy guys looked like Brad Cooper, there’d be lines of eligible women around the block waiting to change his bedpan.
Haha, nice trashbag, Waspy McSailboat. Maybe get a baby blue one next time, to match your eyes.
People tend to be polarized about David O. Russell, who’s directed Flirting with Disaster, Three Kings, I Heart Huckabees, and The Fighter, but I’ve liked all of his movies, to varying degrees. Plus he got his start directing a movie about a guy banging his own mom – dude’s twisted, and I like that. At the same time, excepting One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, I could do without virtually every mental hospital narrative. Oh, you’re crazy? Well shine on, you unique, one-of-a-kind free-spirited diamond, you. Oh, and thanks for throwing my cell phone into the ocean, I don’t know how I would’ve learned to live in the moment otherwise. Indie-movie crazy is so adorable, isn’t it? Meanwhile, actual crazy is busy shouting about Jews and starting websites called “rape camp.”
Still, Jennifer Lawrence, Brad Cooper, David O. Russell, and Chris Tucker makes it through the entire trailer without shouting? I’m there.
