Drake had a pretty good view from the sidelines for an epic Game 5 between the Toronto Raptors and Indiana Pacers. The OVO mogul made his presence known from the opening tip on Tuesday night, pacing and gesticulating in the manner basketball’s most animated head coaches do for a full 48 minutes. It was a show.
What team employees pretty much always avoid, though, is outright taunting an opposing player – which is what Drake did to an oblivious Rodney Stuckey late in the Raptors’ 102-99 victory. Good thing, then, that he’s no longer officially affiliated with the Toronto organization.
After the game, Drake continued provoking the Pacers by posting this image of a crying Paul George to Instagram.
After his post gained major traction on social media, the Views From The 6 superstar quickly deleted it. Why? There’s no way to know for sure, but one justification seems most obvious.
George wasn’t at all “scared” in Game 5; he scored 36 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished eight assists on just 19 shots. It was perhaps the finest all-around performance of the postseason thus far. Might Drake have realized the worst thing for the Raptors would be providing George even more motivation heading into Friday’s do-or-die Game 6 in Indianapolis? Makes sense to us.
Regardless, his involvement adds yet another layer of (ridiculous) drama to a first-round series that’s quickly become a classic. Keep doing you, Drizzy.
