Here I was, all set to leave my house for the day when those bastards at Apple had to go and post the new, full-length trailer for The Hangover 2. FINE, I’ll wallow in my own crapulence a while longer. Jeez, twist my arm. The full-length version of the trailer takes all the monkey-wearing-pants action and face tattoos from the teaser and adds Ken Jeong*, car chases, a cigarette boat, elephants, a strip-club uzi rampage…. Hey, at least they didn’t go too over-the-top with this one, right? I feel like this is the kind of humor aimed at dumb people, without a lot of challenging subtlety, like a crappy bar that has the music turned up real loud to make stupid people feel like they’re having fun. Which isn’t to say it won’t be funny anyway. Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, and Todd Phillips are all really pretty good at their jobs (blackballing Mel Gibson was still a total bitch move). It’s comedy for dumb people, but it’s mostly good comedy for dumb people, if that makes any sense.
It’s also interesting to see former Real World cast member Jamie Chung starring in her second huge movie this year. A real career for an MTV reality star, that’s a first. 2012 is going to be the Year of Puck though, I just have a feeling.
*He could stand to ratchet this role down about five notches, am I right?
