Christmas, 1994 – A young Jason receives Warcraft: Orcs vs. Humans for his weak PC. Despite having no sound card until months later, young Jason plays the game non-stop for hundreds of hours. 1996 – less-young-Jason writes his first check for Warcraft: Tides of Darkness. High school is a drag, but “War2” makes everything better. 2002 – Jason builds his first computer so he can play Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, and and his adult life ceases to move beyond necromancers and orc armies. Most people don’t understand why Arthas’ betrayal is such a big deal. Then, World of Warcraft came out in 2004, and nothing is ever the same. For two decades, the universe Blizzard created has in turn built a burning legion of fans that have grown up in Azeroth, and now – finally – fans are getting the Warcraft movie they’ve been yearning for over the last decade.
The best part – it looks utterly bad ass.
Fans of the series know that we’ll be going back to the beginning, before the Dark Portal was open and just as the original PC game’s story began. In this TV spot we see a lone human warrior, facing off against a huge orc, but also some locations not shown previously. The dwarves of Ironforge and their snowy mountains. We see some frost wolves, probably from the Frostwolf Clan, and a whole bunch of cool moments that will set the stage for the epic tale we know and love.
C’mon June 10th. Get here.
