Oscar the bionic kitty and Mitzi the bionic dog have a new best friend in the bionic pets gang. (You don’t want to encroach on the bionic pets gang’s territory. They’ll sharpen up a prosthetic paw and shank you. If they had thumbs they’d be snapping as they approach you, like the ultra-realistic gangs in West Side Story did. Also, I heard they hide razor blades in their hair.)
Naki’o has one over on Oscar and Mitzi in that he doesn’t just have new prosthetic back legs; Naki’o is the first dog to ever be fitted with four prosthetic legs. It’s taking all my willpower not to fill this post with Sifl and Olly quotes. That said, how did Naki’o become a hot legless dog?
Naki’o was abandoned as a puppy when his owners left their foreclosed home. During the Nebraskan winter, he stepped into an icy puddle in the home’s basement and got all four of his paws trapped in the freezing water. With severe frostbite, Naki’o and the rest of his litter were transported to an animal rescue center. Veterinary technician Christie Tomlinson adopted Naki’o, and organized a fundraiser to pay for his two back legs to be fitted with the prosthetics. He came through the procedure so well that Orthopets decided to donate the remaining two prosthetic legs [Geekosystem]
I want to hunt down those former owners and punch them in the face almost as much as I want to rub this dog’s belly and watch his little plastic legs kick:
