Previously we’ve reported several updates about the cast of Warner’s 3D animated LEGO movie, Lego: The Piece of Resistance. Will Arnett will be voicing Batman (brilliant) and Channing Tatum will be voicing Superman. Chris Pratt (AKA Andy Dwyer) is voicing the lead character, an ordinary guy who is confused with the MasterBuilder and has to prevent a villain from gluing the universe together. Elizabeth Banks and Anna Faris are voicing undisclosed characters, while Morgan Freeman is voicing the Vitruvius.
Now writer/directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street) and co-director Chris McKay (Robot Chicken) have signed four more actors, as the very busy picture above may have already tipped you to. Deadline reports Alison Brie, Nick Offerman, Will Ferrell, And Liam Neeson will also be voicing characters in the LEGO movie.
Will Ferrell will be playing the primary villain, President Business, whose name makes me want to loiter in Zuccotti Park, maaaaan. Liam Neeson will be playing Ferrell’s henchman, Bad Cop. Alison Brie will play a member of Chris Pratt’s team who has “a powerful secret”. The Film Stage says her character is named Lisa and has an involvement with LEGO Batman. Oh that Alison Brie always getting involved with Batman.
Perhaps the most amazing part is Deadline’s description of the character Nick Offerman will play. They describe him as “a craggy, swaggering pirate obsessed with revenge on President Business.” Ron Swanson as a swaggering pirate hellbent on revenge? How are we supposed to wait until February 7th, 2014, to see that? And how has Offerman not already played a swaggering pirate in everything ever? And, going back to the previous paragraph, can Alison Brie’s powerful secret be that she’s planning to buy a Corgi and a Slave Leia costume and then make a series of .gifs which will bring about world peace?
