The logistics that go into creating a season of Game of Thrones are anxiety-inducing. Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss require their writers have all 10 episodes camera-ready before filming begins for the year. Each season films in its entirety simultaneously, like the world”s most complex Rube Goldberg machine. That”s 10 episodes all filming, out of order, across two production units, in different parts of the world. And that doesn”t include all the other necessities like creating costumes, wrangling extras…and choosing locations to be the backdrop of Westeros and Essos.
All of the locations in Game of Thrones are stunning. But some of them might look awfully familiar. HitFix has collected five places that you can visit and pretend you”re a Westerosi noble…or Indiana Jones…or Gladiator…or, well. You get the idea.
