Kristen Stewart is still trying to distance herself from “Twilight,” and the new trailer for the Sundance entry “Camp X-Ray” showcases what looks to be her heaviest role yet.
Stewart plays a new guard at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, where — like Clarice Starling in “Silence of the Lambs” — she's told, “do not let them get inside your head.” She soon finds that things aren't as black-and-white as she'd been told, and begins to forms an unlikely bond with one of the detainees, played by “A Separation” star Peyman Moaadi. You can watch the trailer embedded at the top of this post.
Directed by first-timer Peter Slatter, “Camp X-Ray” also stars Lane Garrison (“Prison Break”), Julia Duffy (“Shameless”), and John Carroll Lynch (“Zodiac”).
HitFix's Drew McWeeny gave the fim a “B” after seeing it at Sundance.
“Camp X-Ray” opens in theaters and VOD October 28.
What do you think of the trailer? Has Stewart got the chops for “Camp X-Ray”?
