As the Justin Bieber Redemption Tour gets on chugging, more juicy nuggets from his recent interview with NME keep emerging because Justin Bieber is a good guy now, a different person who has matured. His troubled past is just that, his past. If you find yourself doubting that, just keep repeating it. It’ll take eventually.

The latest to come from the NME interview is an admission from Bieber, whose latest album, Purpose, came out Friday, that Kanye West proved to be an important part of his career reinvention, citing West as an inspiration.

“Out of anyone in the industry who is creative, he really gets me,” Bieber said of the rapper. “His advice is always just, ‘Make music that’s so good people can’t hate on it.’ I didn’t wanna bore him or waste his time. So I was like, ‘Can I play you these songs?’ and he was like, ‘I wanna hear everything.’ To hear him say that, it just showed that he cared.”

Say what you will about Kanye, but that’s actually pretty good advice, and given what we’ve heard from Bieber 2.0, it seems to be advice Bieber has closely followed. Bieber might have finally hit a point where his music is good enough to overshadow his antics, past or present. I for one would gladly tolerate a Bieber-cident or two if only because I dig “What Do You Mean?” so much. “Sorry” is growing on me, too.

As for Kanye’s advice, we put up with his antics because his music is amazing. Talent always wins. Look at Yankees fans this past season. Before the season started, no one could have imagined Alex Rodriguez ever receiving a warm reception in Yankee Stadium. But a few homers and a month or two of solid production later and people are championing him for MVP. So yeah, Kanye has a point.

Bieber also revealed that he worked some with Rick Rubin, the mega-producer/spiritual guiding light for people like Kanye, Jay Z, the Beastie Boys, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and more, but despite Rubin’s best efforts, it wasn’t the right fit.

“He brought in a band and there were some dope vibes, but it wasn’t the music I wanna make. So I said, ‘I love you, but no thanks.'”

“Some dope vibes?” Rick Rubin only does dope vibes, Justin Bieber.

Stay tuned for more Bieber-related coverage because, you must remember, it’s the Justin Bieber Redemption Tour. He won’t stop until he’s won over every single person out there.

Consider yourself warned.
