While Kurt Angle is planning his final WWE match at WrestleMania and subsequent retirement, things appear to be going considerably worse for his brother Eric Angle. Eric was an amateur wrestler like his brother, but never reached the same heights. He made a few appearances in WWE in the early 2000s, but his primary career has been as a coach for youth wrestling, as part of the Angle Elite Wrestling Club in Pittsburgh, PA.
It’s in Pittsburgh that Eric has just been charged with assault following an incident at a junior wrestling tournament on Saturday. WTAE TV in Pittsburgh has a video in which Eric Angle can be seen in the background, apparently picking up a young wrestler by the neck and casually tossing him down. Even recorded at such a distance, it looks pretty bad, although the boy in question does not appear to be seriously hurt. Eric Angle gave this short quote to WTAE:
I should have just walked away and let him get thrown out. Instead, I’m the one who embarrassed myself even more.
Nobody’s saying exactly what the boy did that might have gotten him thrown out and definitely stoked Angle’s anger, but obviously there’s no excuse for an adult manhandling a child in such a manner.
