Back in August, Finn Bálor became the first ever WWE Universal Champion after defeating the totally-not-dangerous-in-the-ring Seth Rollins. Unfortunately, his reign was incredibly short-lived as he had to vacate the title the next night due to injury, and possibly because he didn’t want to be seen in public with a belt with the color and texture of dried out strawberry jam.
Though his surgery to repair a dislocated shoulder and torn labrum was a success, it was then revealed that the damage from such a “high-energy injury” was worse than initially anticipated. Bálor recently posted an update on how he’s been coping with this setback:
Today is three weeks to the day that I started rehabilitation on my shoulder, and I’ve gotta be honest, I feel like I’ve lived a lifetime in the last three weeks. The first week was especially very difficult, not only physically but mentally, and coming to terms with everything that’s gone on from SummerSlam …
Bálor goes on to say that the difficulty has been eased by the genuine outpouring of support from family, friends, and the WWE Universe. He also explains that he’s got about five more months of rehabilitation to go, but he hopes to be back in time for WrestleMania 33. That’s all well and good, but can we all agree that this update would be way better if they had brought in Bad Luck Fale to ferry him around on his shoulders like the wounded baby bird he is?

Come on, that’s totally worth it.
