NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia Results:
1. NXT Tag Team Championship Match: The Undisputed Era (c) defeated the Authors Of Pain. Kyle O’Reilly rolled up Akam for a flash pin after Akam inadvertently crashed into Rezar as they went for their Super-Collider finishing move.
— Recent NXT signees War Machine were shown in the audience.
2. Velveteen Dream defeated Kassius Ohno. Dream connected with a cartwheel Death Valley Driver, followed by his Purple Rainmaker elbow drop off the ring post for the pinfall victory.
3. NXT Women’s Championship Match: Ember Moon (c) defeated Shayna Baszler. Moon pinned Baszler while Baszler held her in an arm-bar submission to retain the women’s championship. After the match, Baszler choked Moon out on the ramp.
— Recent NXT signee Ricochet was shown in the audience.
4. Extreme Rules Match: Aleister Black defeated Adam Cole. Black had Cole beaten but Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish broke up the pin, which was legal due to the match stipulations. SAnitY came out to neutralize O’Reilly and Fish, allowing Black to connect with a Black Mass for the win.
— Former TNA world champion EC 3 was shown in the audience, confirming the rumors he had re-signed with NXT.
5. NXT Championship Match: Andrade “Cien” Almas (c) defeated Johnny Gargano. Zelina Vega tried to interfere on Almas’ behalf but was intercepted by new NXT signee (and Gargano’s wife) Candice LeRae. Shortly thereafter, Almas connected with a double-knee strike on the apron into the ringpost before hitting a draping hammerlock DDT off the top turnbuckle to retain his championship.
— After the match, a returning Tommaso Ciampa came out and attacked Gargano from behind with a crutch.
