Back in August, Minnesota looked like a lock to host WrestleMania 33. “We are a finalist and seem to be in a very good position to secure the college football playoffs, the BCS Championship game and you know we’ve got WrestleMania coming,” boasted a promo video for U.S. Bank Stadium. WWE issued a statement saying nothing had been confirmed, and as time passed, things seem to get less and less confirmed.
According to the latest rumor, WWE is “very high” on bringing WrestleMania back to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida, in 2017. That’s where they held WrestleMania 24, if you’ll recall, and the location makes a hell of a lot of sense. Orlando (and the surrounding area) is the home of the WWE Performance Center, as well as Full Sail University, where WWE tapes NXT. Plus, Orlando is rumored to be the future site of a physical WWE Hall of Fame. What better time to cut the ribbon on that than at a WrestleMania in the same city?
Additionally, it’s not Minnesota.
We’ll keep you updated on the rumor and any subsequent official announcements, as nothing’s confirmed until you see business men shaking hands about it on television. Until then, please enjoy the official theme song of WrestleMania 33:
