News broke on Monday that WWE Superstar Paige had been suspended by the company. It is her second suspension due to a Wellness Policy violation and will be for 60 days. Paige immediately went on Twitter to comment on the suspension, saying, “Same sh*t, different day.” She’s definitely unhappy with her suspension, but by all accounts she’s been quite unhappy with WWE in general for some time now.
Paige’s real-life significant other is the former Alberto Del Rio (who is not reverting to his previous “Alberto El Patron” moniker he used in between WWE stints, but will now be going by Alberto “El Presidente” Rodriguez). The two have been involved in a relationship that has (largely against their will) become very public. ESPN reached out to Rodriguez for comment on Paige’s suspension and what may have led to it. Not surprisingly, Rodriguez has Paige’s back and agrees with her assessment of the entire situation.
“It’s just like she said in her statement this afternoon,” Rodriguez said. “It’s just the same s—, different day, my friend.”
His answer of more substance had to do with the endless fan speculation about the relationship between the two wrestlers. He managed to sum it up very eloquently and succinctly.
“To be honest, I don’t care what they say or what they try to do,” Rodriguez said. “We are together and we are happy. I know a lot of people are not happy but regardless of whatever people say, we can be happy. We can be together. And we are going to stay together because we are happy.
“If someone is not comfortable or happy about it, we just don’t care. We are going to continue our life. Our families are happy and we’re happy. That’s all that matters.”
Pretty well said! You can’t blame the guy for being a little salty about this whole situation, and all we can do is take both of them at their word.
