If you’ve gotten hype (or more appropriately, have stayed hype) for tonight’s 25th anniversary edition of Monday Night Raw, you’ll love the video package they put together for the show’s opening. As you might expect, it’s a look back at many of the most memorable moments from the two and a half decades of sports-style entertainment WWE’s put on since Raw’s creation back in 1993, from championship victories and important firsts to Stone Cold Steve Austin hitting Vince McMahon in the head with a bedpan and Mark Henry having sex with a very old lady. Everything you tune in for! CM Punk’s pipe bomb even gets a mention, if you were wondering.
It’s great, of course, because WWE’s video production team is better at what they do than anyone else in the company, but it’s still not my favorite retrospective package they’ve put together to celebrate a milestone. That will (probably forever) go to when the World Wrestling Federation “got the F out” and Ric Flair said goodbye to the letter (and the era) with Kid Rock’s ‘Lonely Road of Faith.’ Sure, it’s Kid Rock — soon to be “WWE Hall of Famer Kid Rock,” if you believe those rumors — but for my money it’s the best non-Limp Bizkit, non-Placebo video they’ve ever done.
Be sure to check out the clip again on Monday night as Raw celebrates 25 years with an embarrassment of returning stars, deeply improved commentary, The Miz winning back the Intercontinental Championship (fingers crossed) and more.
