There’s really no reason for Kendrick Lamar to be humble anymore. According to the latest tabulations from Billboard, every single song from the Compton rapper’s latest album DAMN., has entered the Hot 100 charts this week. It’s a phenomenal feat that goes a long way to explaining how K. Dot managed to sell more copies of his album in a single week than any other project released in 2017 thus far. The old title holder was Drake with More Life, but Kendrick smashed his half-a-million sales total by a whopping 100,000 units.
Heading off the list is DAMN’s pre-release single “Humble,” which carries the distinction of being Kung Fu Kenny’s first overall No. 1 ever. After that, the album’s second single “DNA” which just eeked into the Top-5 at No. 4. From there, the order goes, “Loyalty at 14, “Element” at 16, “Love” at 18, “Yah” at 32, the U2-featured track “XXX” at 33, “Feel” at 35, “Pride” at 37, “Lust” at 42, “Fear” at 50, “Blood” at 54, “God” at 58 and finally, the album closer “Duckworth” at 63. None of his songs went anywhere below the 70th position on the chart which in and of itself is incredible to think about.
Kendrick’s label boss Top Dawg took to social media to celebrate the success of the Compton MC’s latest project and thank the fans for making it happen. “Y’all did it again,” he wrote in an Instagram caption. “Y’all pulled off the double whammy this time.. thank u guys for always supporting and believing in our movement.”
You can help Kendrick celebrate this milestone in person when he hits the road for a run of shows later this Summer.
