The seemingly never-ending saga of Tha Carter V took another twist today. According to TMZ, Lil Wayne has threatened to sue pharma-bro Martin Shkreli if he shares any more material from his long-awaited album. Back in December 2016, Shkreli somehow got his hands on a copy of the album and shared some snippets during a livestream. Apparently, Wayne held off on taking any legal action at that time because he received word from Shkreli that he wouldn’t cause any further leaks.
Then, earlier this month, Shkreli hosted another live stream where he publicly aired out a pair of tracks reportedly from the album, one titled “The Life of Carter,” and another called “Mona Lisa” which featured Kendrick Lamar. At the time, Shkreli described the latter song as “The best song on the damn thing.”
Wayne was reportedly pissed that Shkreli broke his word and both his lawyers as well as some legal representatives from his label Universal Music fired off a some cease and desist notices. Apparently, Weezy is of the mind that Shkreli is sharing his material just to get attention, which yeah, that checks out, and is holding off at the moment from taking him to court. The next time he might not be so lucky.
