Just a few weeks back, the Seattle rap duo Shabazz Palaces announced that they were retuning with a new album titled Quazarz: Born On A Gangster Star. Today they double down on that bit of good news and dropped a bombshell. Not only are they releasing that album on July 14, they are also dropping a whole different project titled Quazarz Vs. The Jealous Machines the very same day. They’ve also shared a trippy new song, “30 Clip Extension” to help build the hype.
Described as an “extra-spatial twin,” to the already publicized, Born On A Gangster Star, Shabazz Palaces freshly announced project Vs. The Jealous Machines is predictably out there, relating the story of “Quazarz…a wave warrior wielding his sonic sword. Posted to the turnt-up states of Amurderca here on the Gangster Star to chronicle, explore and enjoy as a musical emissary. He discovers a world where humankind’s relationship with their tech-devices has become weirdly sensual, seducing a sedentary seamlessness with humans, while capturing and incarcerating the results of their imagination.”
Produced by Palaceer Lazaro and Sunny Levine, the new album is fleshed out across eleven tracks and comes with guest appearances by Fly Guy Dai of Chimurenga Renaissance, Amir Yaghamai, John Carroll Kirby, Thaddillac, Morgan Henderson, The Shogun Shot, Laz, and Purple Tape Nate.
