When Jay Z and Kanye West performed “Niggas In Paris” thirteen times in a row at their Staples Center date in Los Angeles while touring to promote Watch The Throne in 2011, they set a record for most encores of a single song in a concert.
It’s fitting then, that the record was broken by Kanye’s protege, Travis Scott, who performed “Goosebumps” from Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight fourteen times Tuesday night at his Oklahoma City stop. The crowd was certainly into it, from the looks of the video posted by Travis’ official Youtube, although they didn’t come close to the one from his Arkansas stop, where he was arrested for “inciting a riot,” or New York, where he goaded a fan into jumping off a second story balcony. Good thing for him, as he won’t have to pay any more hospital bills, as he promised to do for the fan injured from the fall in New York.
Travis’ live show has become his calling card of sorts, with even famous fans showing up to support and getting lost in the vibes. He’s also been busy in the lab, cooking up new material for concertgoers to get hype to, so fans who come to see him on the first half of Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. tour may get to experience more records broken, in both senses of the phrase.
