One of hottest song in New York right now gets a remix from noted waves hopper French Montana. The 31-year-old Cokeboy injects his flare to Young M.A’s “Ooouuu” for a fitting remix to the new “Hot N*gga.” French’s verse will only add to the track’s popularity and bring more shine to the rising Brooklyn rapper who credits 50 Cent with inspiring her to pick up a mic.
“I just started writing rhymes in my room and started playing with it,” the 24-year-old revealed on a recent interview with The Breakfast Club. “Once I started listening to 50 Cent, that’s when I really started saying, ‘Nah, I wanna be a rapper.'” And those dreams nearly took her to Empire. While on the radio show, Young M.A also revealed she wasn’t just suppose to play Freda Gatz on the musical drama, but the Freda character is actually based on her.
“I was going to be Freda Gatz, but the original name was ‘Betty Barz,’” M.A. claimed. “They wrote the script for me. It was based on me.” The “Brooklyn Chiraq” rapper says she turned down the role because she didn’t want to be pigeonholed, adding, “I knew Empire was going to put me in this position where I’m known from Empire and I’m not known for being Young M.A from Brooklyn, building on my music. I would’ve been Betty Barz.” That and the weird Empire contract saying all music penned and recorded belongs to the show.
