This past June, John Stamos was pulled over for driving recklessly in Beverly Hills after the police department received several calls citing his vehicle’s odd behavior. Stamos, the star of Grandfathered, was hit with a misdemeanor DUI and led away in handcuffs. Following the arrest, Stamos checked himself into a month-long treatment center for substance abuse, and even tweeted a “Thank you” to the Beverly Hills Police Department.
TMZ reported that the drug found in his system was GHB, known as the “date rape drug,” but it’s also commonly taken for its athletic benefits, including burning body fat and recovering quickly from workouts. On Thursday, Stamos was officially charged with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of drugs, and if convicted, he could spend up to six months in jail. Last year, the Fuller House actor lost his mother, the impact of which sent him into a brief tailspin that he discussed in an interview with Details.
You either continue on that path—and some of it’s fun, but a lot of it’s not—or there’s this other thing, this golden opportunity sitting there with all this work and all this goodwill that you have going for you. That’s the key. I feel better than I’ve felt in a decade.
An arraignment for Stamos is scheduled for Friday in Los Angeles.
