In an election year, politics are on the minds of most U.S. citizens. Healthcare, gun control, the serving of corporate interests with tax payer money — all subjects are weighing heavily on our culture’s shoulders. But most of all — how would a dog wear pants?
Does anyone really know the answer to this now-eternal question? Do we want to know? And even if the nation/world comes to a consensus, will it matter? Confirmation bias is a real thing, and once your heart and mind is set on how a dog will wear pants, it’s hard to change your opinion. Maybe it’s in how you were raised, and maybe your values differ from others, but no answer is right and no answer is wrong in this important issue. And yet clarity is still sought. Finality is still needed.
Not since Roe v. Wade have we the people been so divided.
Abraham Lincoln once said, “You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today,” and today was the day that President Obama stood up as the leader of the free world to make a decision. He used his great power and influence (around the 27:20 mark in the video) to finally put rest this unwavering argument of how a dog would wear pants.
The question on everyone’s minds was brought up by YouTube star Swoozie, who presented the diagram earnestly to the President. Upon seeing the image, Obama reflected for a moment, running not only the last seven years in the White House through his mind, but his entire life and maybe his future, and the future of his children… and their children.
Then he pointed his all-important finger at the diagram, picking the dog wearing pants on its hind legs.
“This, I think, it’s a little conservative…too much fabric.”
And so it is done. Thanks, Obama.
