During the otherwise stodgy and adult-oriented Critics Choice Awards, one star shone mightily above all others. Jacob Tremblay, the 9-year-old star of Room, joyously accepted his Best Supporting Actor Award. The film, which is rather heavy in subject matter, didn’t squash the spirit of the evening. The young lad proudly claimed his award and stood confidently before a crowd of his non-peers. He had trouble reaching the microphone, but that was no deterrence.
Tremblay was here to rule the evening, and the crowd hung on his every word. What would the young child say during his moment of victory? Well, Tremblay didn’t hold back. He exclaimed, “This is super cool!” The boy’s got that right. Tremblay delivered a better acceptance speech than most adults can manage: “This is the best day of my life! I know right where to put this. On the shelf next to my Millennium Falcon.” Congrats, kiddo. May you have even better days than this one and the brightest of futures.
