Shaqtin’ A Fool Legend JaVale McGee Has Signed A Training Camp Contract With The Warriors

There have been other Shaqtin’ A Fool MVPs. Kendrick Perkins, for instance, will certainly see his visage carved into the Mt. Rushmore of blooper reels when all is said and done, while James Harden and his accommodating defense just finished up a strong campaign for the season’s most dubious distinction.

But there will never be another JaVale McGee, and basketball fans have sadly been robbed of his antics the past couple of seasons as injuries and lack of playing time have kept the 28-year-old center out of the limelight. All that might change now, however, as McGee has reportedly been invited to the Golden State Warriors’ training camp this fall. Via Marc Stein of ESPN.com:

Sources said the Warriors will sign McGee to a make-good contract for the chance to make their 15-man roster in October.

In creating the needed salary-cap space to sign Kevin Durant away from the Thunder, Golden State was forced to sacrifice three of its four centers: Andrew Bogut (traded to Dallas), Festus Ezeli (signed with Portland) and Marreese Speights (signed with the Los Angeles Clippers).

McGee is probably a long-shot to make the cut, and if he does, you can bet Steve Kerr will keep him on a tight leash, but even the mere possibility of once again seeing him earn a goal-tending violation for volleyball-spiking a shot into the tenth row is enough get us excited for next season.
