The Internet Is Having An Emotional Time With The News That Our Dogs Are Dreaming About Us

It seems like every single day, we get new information that proves that dogs really are too good and too pure for this world. Whether they’re loving us unconditionally, understanding us better than we could have hoped, or belting out some opera, no other creature could ever carry the mantle of Man’s Best Friend so well. Well, in a recent interview with People magazine, one Harvard psychologist shed a little light on your dog’s inner life that will crack your heart right open. According to Dr. Deirdre Barrett, a teacher and a Clinical and Evolutionary Psychologist at Harvard Medical School, dogs’ dreams are every bit as sweet as you would have hoped.

Humans dream about the same things they’re interested in by day, though more visually and less logically. There’s no reason to think animals are any different. Since dogs are generally extremely attached to their human owners, it’s likely your dog is dreaming of your face, your smell and of pleasing or annoying you.

If you’re a dog owner, it’s safe to say that you’re getting a little choked up at the thought of Rufus spending his nights dreaming of his best pal (that’s you, champ). More than one Twitter user got hit right in the feels, with this tweet getting over 60,000 retweets and inspiring others to share pictures of their own sleepy pups. Get ready for a cuteness overload.
