I enjoy the understated nature of a heads-up play, such as Portland Trailblazers guard Andre Miller essentially faking a timeout to get an easy layup against the New Orleans Hornets en route to a 103-96 win last night at the Rose Garden. But then, with the Hornets now having lost three straight, they’re giving up quite a few easy layups of late.
Somebody wrote earlier this week that the NBA was less popular now than in years past because of The Whole Race Thing. I disagree: look at all of the fake timeouts in the NFL. If the NBA follows Miller’s example, they’ll be back in the national forefront in no time.
