New England Patriots tight end and human party Muppet Rob Gronkowski made his official WrestleMania debut, all in the name of hypeness and friendship. During the WrestleMania 33 Kickoff show, Gronk hopped the barricade to help defend party boat BFF Mojo Rawley against Jinder Mahal during the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Gronk is no stranger to WWE, having been close friends with former NXT Superstar Rawley since his old football days. In fact, Rawley insists that his large friend and the extended Gronkowski family are responsible for his wrestling career. New England native John Cena portrayed Gronk during his turn as the host of Saturday Night Live. Also, did I mention the party boat? Because guys … party boat.
Gronkowski — presumably hopped up on the toxic swamp water that is his very own Monster energy drink — shed his shirt and any pretense that pro wrestling is real as he decided to intervene on behalf of his neon friend. After a nasty looking tackle to Jinder Mahal, Rawley was able to get his bearings against the few remaining opponents to walk away with the battle royal win and a giant-ass fancy trophy. Gronk’s supposedly been dying to get into a WWE ring, and helping out a best friend on the biggest show of the year is a hell of a way to do it.
