Looks like it’s her house again.
Her return to WWE has been rumored for weeks, but former Divas and NXT Women’s Champion Paige finally appeared on Monday’s episode of Raw. Paige hasn’t been seen on WWE television since multiple wellness policy violations and neck surgery in October of 2016.
Early on Monday, word spread that Paige was in Houston for Raw, but it wasn’t clear whether she’d actually appear on the show. When the majority of the women’s division popped up in a segment to stake their claim to Alexa Bliss’ Raw Women’s Championship and Paige wasn’t among them, we at first assumed it wouldn’t be happening on this show.
We assumed wrong.
Kurt Angle made a No. 1 contender’s Fatal 4-Way match between Bayley, Sasha Banks, Mickie James, and Alicia Fox to challenge for Alexa’s title. In the middle of that match, Paige showed up. She received a massive ovation and a “WELCOME BACK” chant, but she made it clear she was back … and she wasn’t alone.
Yes, that was NXT’s Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville (previously Daria Berenato), both of whom have gotten extremely good over the past year. They laid out all the women in the match (except for Alicia, who smartly ran for her life), and all of a sudden, the Raw women’s division has a fearsome new faction to deal with. Until they run afoul of Asuka, that is. Later, the three women viciously beat down Bliss backstage, to put an exclamation point on their statement.
Paige’s personal life and her seemingly tumultuous relationship with Alberto Del Rio have been the subject of a gruesome amount of gossip over the past year, but long story short, it’s good to see her return to doing what she does best, and hopefully putting all of that behind her. This new faction looks like an amazing start.
