I’m not rocking a 4S (Lenny Kravitz advised I hold out for the 5) so I don’t have much personal experience with Siri. And of the ridiculous amount of “Sh*t Siri Says” content created over the last several months I typically only bother to check out the ones with sex and drugs in the title. So the other day when I glanced over Notorious Siri I foolishly passed up giving it a watch. I finally gave it a chance this morning once I realized it was Siri covering “Hypnotize” — nothing panders to me quite like Biggie hits — and it’s pretty amazing. Here’s a breakdown of the hack from the creator:
My hack for the Music Hack Day 2011 in London, a 24h Hackathon for all things music.
SiriProxy is used to intercept the communication with Apple’s servers. Notorious Siri then sends Notorious B.I.G.’s Hypnotize to the device.
Siri’s speech synthesis is synced to the beat using the timestamps obtained from the Echonest API which were then manually tweaked, to smooth out delays in the text-to-speech engine.
So yeah, brilliant stuff to be enjoyed by geeks and fans of 90’s hip hop alike. Video after the jump, followed by the Michael Bay-inspired “Hypnotize” music video for good measure.
High school me made everyone in the room stop talking when this came on…
