It’s not an exaggeration to say that a lot of dog owners are insane over their pets, and I say that as someone who spent more money on my dog’s birthday this year than any human being I know (sorry, mom). Still, spending £2,000 on a wedding ceremony for two dogs seems a bit extreme, at least until you look at these adorable pugs named Betty and Albert, and then you’re probably going to be pissed that you weren’t invited. The dogs are the beloved companions of 52-year old hairdresser and dog groomer Christine Reynolds, and we can only hope that she never accidentally confuses her human and canine clientele.
The ceremony took place over the weekend in Desborough, Northamptonshire (England, for us Yankee blokes) and both dogs were dressed in custom wedding garb, with Albert wearing a little pug tuxedo and Betty in a beautiful white dress. And yes, before you even say it, Reynolds knows that she’s a little… out there.
“They are such a cute couple. Albert is a gentleman and always looks after Betty.
“As we were doing the vows I started tearing up, it was so beautiful.
“I know people might think I’m a bit mad, but I love my dogs and they are so in love a wedding seemed like the right thing to do.
“My kids are all grown up and they find it hilarious. But I am pug-obsessed.
“My whole house is covered in pug photos, pug decorations, pug pillows and pug duvets. They are just so sweet.’
Meanwhile, her long-suffering-husband, Julian Reynolds, 43, said: “It’s all bonkers.” (Via MK Web)
In case you’re wondering, the wedding song of choice was UB40’s rendition of “I Got You Babe” featuring Chrissie Hynde. I’m pretty sure they recorded the cover solely for use at dog weddings, so it worked out perfectly.
