What Do You Think Of College Basketball’s Possible Rule Changes?

Basketball is a beautiful game. I particularly enjoy the little nuances—a backdoor pass, a subtle head fake to get your defender in the air, a solid pick to free up a shooter—that kind of stuff right there? That’s what makes basketball great.

College basketball used to be a beautiful game. I particularly enjoyed when players used to score and not draw flops. I liked it when games were in the 60s and 70s and people weren’t afraid to go to the lane.

In an attempt to jump start scoring, the NCAA will experiment with some rule changes in the 2015 NIT. Here’s what they’re thinking.

-30 second shot clock
-Extended restricted area

In theory, the 30-second shot clock should create more possessions, thus leading to more offense. Again, just a theory but at least they’re trying. The second rule is kinda blah and will sadly lead to more guys flopping in the paint.

So one hand, cool idea guys. On the other hand, ugh. I’m skeptical.
