Sean Penn appeared on Conan last night to promote his new film, Gunman, and he briefly spoke about the criticism he received for that controversial joke he told at the Oscars:
Well they can be a bit more cheerful.
You know, there’s that thing where within that part of our society that is an idiocracy… what they do recognize is the latch-on subject matter. ‘Ooh, he said this and I can put that in a category where if I criticize it! I’ll have a lot of friends on Twitter!’
For a minute.
And so they did and it gave them something to do.
In short, he continues to have no apologies.
