Despite his endless gift of the gab and proclivity for playing dress-up, it doesn’t seem like Conor McGregor is too keen on catching the acting bug that has bitten so many of his fellow MMA stars before him. He recently turned down a high profile role in Vin Diesel’s upcoming XXX sequel in order to focus on his UFC 202 rematch with Nate Diaz, and has stated before that he’s “not crazy about acting” for anything other than a paycheck.
But while it may be a while before we see McGregor popping up on the big screen, the video game world is another thing entirely. Shortly after defeating Diaz in a “Fight of the Year” candidate last month, the featherweight champion announced that he would be appearing in the latest edition of the legendary Call of Duty franchise, Infinite Warfare. And now, we have some footage of the “Notorious” one in action.
In a video released on FOX Sports this morning, McGregor discussed what it was like working on Infinite Warfare, which will also star Game of Thrones‘ Kit Harington as the game’s antagonist, Admiral Salen Kotch, and his own previous obsession with the beloved shooter.
I have played the game for many years. There was a stage where I’d be up all night, literally all night. I’d wake up, do 2 or 3 hours of training, I’d come home nice and early and play Black Ops 2 the whole night through. My girlfriend would wake up at 8 a.m. to get going for work, and then I’d say, ‘Ok it’s time to go to sleep. I’ve been on this damn thing too long.’
My management rang me and said there was an opportunity to be part of the game. To get an opportunity to actually take part in the game, I dived at it.
Call of Duty: Infinity Warfare drops on XBOX and PS4 on November 4.
