Bethesda’s annual QuakeCon is ongoing now, and as part of the festivities, the company released new trailers for their upcoming shooters Quake Champions and Prey. Unlike the trailers shown at this year’s E3, however, these actually feature in-engine gameplay footage and provide viewers with a better idea of what both games will be like.
First up, you can check out the trailer for the PC-only, multiplayer shooter Quake Champions above. The game certainly looks action-packed and very brutal. Some may complain that it seems a little too similar to the recent Doom revival’s multiplayer, but hopefully Id Software has learned its lessons and is building on what they already did there.
Next, we have the first gameplay trailer for Prey. In the game, you play as Morgan Yu, who finds himself stuck on a space station with strange, shape-shifting aliens, who may or may not have infiltrated his body. The game’s environments definitely look slick, and the aliens are unique and unsettling. Definitely getting a little of that deliciously creepy System Shock/BioShock vibe from this one.
Looks like Bethesda is really trying to make a run at becoming the top FPS publisher on the scene, so watch your backs EA and Activision. Quake Champions and Prey are expected to arrive some time in 2017.
