Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is looking fantastic, but the level of polish gamers expect from an Uncharted game doesn’t come without a cost. Uncharted 4 already suffered a big delay, slipping from 2015 to 2016, and now developer Naughty Dog is pushing the game’s release back again, to April 26, 2016. That isn’t a huge delay (the game was supposed to come out mid-March), but any additional wait hurts.
Uncharted 4 creative director Neil Druckmann explained the latest delay…
“This is our largest Uncharted game to date, and the team has been working incredibly hard to meet the challenge of closing out the game’s development in a timely manner. However, as we approached our final deadlines and started wrapping up the game’s levels, we realized that several key sequences needed extra resources to bring them to the finish line. After carefully considering all of our options, we decided to extend our schedule, making sure that we get a few more polish passes before submitting our gold master.”
To help tide you over, we have a new Uncharted 4 behind the scenes video at the top of this post. It contains a bit of new footage, and lots of Nolan North goofing around in motion-capture gear.
