Even if the Warcraft movie was disappointing for fans of the gaming series, it still scratched a certain itch for the denizens of the World of Warcraft. It was undeniably cool to see Azeroth on the big screen, even if the acting was stilted and the plot was relatively incoherent. With that said, the movie bombed in the U.S. with only foreign ticket sales saving it from being a total bust. It’s fair to assume that only Blizzard die-hards saw the movie state-side.
If that’s true, then Blizzard die-hards picking up the movie on home video is also true, and these fans are going to be rewarded handsomely for showing their dedication to the mediocre film.
For picking up Warcraft on DVD or Blu-Ray, you’ll get the following, which is roughly a $40-50 value:
Digital copy of World of Warcraft® – With the arrival of World of Warcraft: Legion™, now’s a great time to jump into the adventure in Azeroth—or ask a friend to come along for the journey.
This digital code includes the complete base game and all expansions up to Warlords of Draenor®, plus 30 days of game time for new players.
Medivh Hero in Hearthstone – Don the mantle of the Guardian of Tirisfal, a Mage hero for Blizzard’s strategy card game.
Gul’dan Hero in Heroes of the Storm – Rain fel fire down upon the Nexus as this twisted orc Assassin in Blizzard’s online team brawler.
So with this package of goodies, you can recruit a friend to WoW (which can double your XP gains), and you can get a newer Heroes of the Storm character (one that’s really fun and costs ten bucks). On top of that, you can nab a Hearthstone card that can even the odds in that sometimes infuriating game.
As a Blizzard fan who plays all of these games, and as someone who was going to pick up the Blu-Ray anyways, this is just swell.
Just swell, I tell ya.
