When new game consoles launch they tend to feel a tad bit overpriced, especially considering there aren’t a ton of games out for them yet. Over the years, the value of owning one becomes more and more tangible, but as we’ve seen from both Sony and Microsoft in the past few months, new models of those consoles can and do get released, making those older models less desirable. The thing is, if you’ve sat out on either the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One, right now seems like a logical time to pick one up, considering retailers are pushing the old models out the door to make room for the newer, upgraded systems.
For actual value right now, it seems like the Xbox One is a can’t miss if you don’t own one already. The impending release of the Xbox One S is making retailers slash prices. There’s currently a Groupon deal for a refurbished Xbox One, Kinect and Halo 5: Guardians bundle for only $189.99. On top of that, if you were looking for something new, GameStop is currently selling brand new Xbox Ones with a digital copy of Rise of the Tomb Raider or Rare Replay for $229.99.
Considering that the base-level Xbox One S (meaning 500gb hard drive) is currently selling for $299.99 bundled with Minecraft or Halo 5: Guardians, that’s a pretty great deal if you don’t have a 4K UHD television and don’t plan on getting one anytime soon.
And now that gaming season is in full swing, there are a lot of reasons to pick up an Xbox One, including games like Forza Horizon 3, Rare Replay, ReCore, Halo 5: Guardians and Sunset Overdrive.
