Universal is re-releasing the first Jurassic Park in 3D on July 19, 2013. Considering the fourth Jurassic Park has been in development hell since 2001, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Universal is talking about the sequel again. If nothing else, it will get free publicity for the 3D re-release (as it just succeeded in doing earlier in this paragraph).
Last year, Thor writer Mark Protosevich and Steven Spielberg were working on ideas for Jurassic Park 4. Last night, Universal announced the hiring of Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver to draft a script for producers Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy. Spielberg is not planning to direct this one. We’re sure they’ll find a suitable director. Life, uhh, finds a way.
I think we already know who they need to hire to score the soundtrack….
